Homemade Organic Muesli

This has become my husbands favorite breakfast, it is usually this or a green banana smoothie https://zaatarandquinoa.com/2014/06/19/banana-spinach-smoothie/ to start his day. If he is really hungry he will have both 🙂

Store bought muesli usually has a lot of hidden ingredients behind their “healthy” packaging such as processed sugar and skimmed milk. I recommend DIY-  much cheaper, healthier and yummier!

Ingredients:

*Go organic where possible

  • 4 cups organic wholegrain oats
  • 1/4 cup raisins (black and golden)
  • 1/4 cup cranberries
  • 1/4 cup goji berries
  • 1 cup slithered almonds
  • 1/4 cup pumpkin seeds
  • 2 tbsp chia seed

Preparation:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. In a big oven tray place 1/2 cup of oats with slithered almonds and pumpkin seeds
  2. Once heated, place tray in the oven and allow to “toast” for 15 minutes
  3. Once done, mix in with rest of ingredients in a mixing bowl

This recipe is pretty flexible so add in any of your favorite dried fruit/nuts to make it your own 🙂
