Homemade Unsweetened Applesauce

Some of my recipes will call for unsweetened apple sauce, which wasn’t very easy to find in Dubai.I then thought to my self I could just be making it as it is so easy!

All you basically need is 4 apples

This is a perfect substitute when the recipe calls for sugar, oil or butter. So when a recipe calls for 1 cup oil, you can sub by using half cup apple sauce and half oil or just sub all together with the applesauce

Ingredients:

  • 4 apples, peeled, cored and chopped
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4  cup water
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence

Preparation:

  1. Place the water in a pot and bring to a boil before adding in all the other ingredients, and cover with a lid.
  2. This should be allowed to cook for 5-10 minutes, or until the apples are tender.
  3. Mash all together using a fork and you are done! This can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 weeks
